MEMBERS OF UB40 MAY SOON BE SIGNING ON

All 5 members of the band face bankruptcy Despite selling over 70 million records and having more than 50 UK chart singles, all five members of UB40 now face bankruptcy. Robin Campbell, Brian Travers, Terence Wilson, Norman Hassan and James Brown – are all reportedly being chased by liquidators after the state of their finances was flagged as a serious issue by the Inland Revenue. The News of The World reported that legal proceedings were due to begin on Monday 14th February at Birmingham Crown Court but so far no further information has been released. It has been said though that the legal action will be directed at their record label, Dep International.Ironically, UB40 was named in reference to the document issued to people claiming unemployment benefit from the DHSS at the time of the band’s formation and ‘UB40’ in fact stands for Unemployment Benefit, Form 40. Full details of how the band ended up in this position are likely to come to light after court proceedings but rumours abound that whatever went on behind closed doors was enough to end the prospect of the band ever playing together again.
